Wholisitc Counselling - Sandtray and Symbol Work
As a wholistic counsellor I prioritise meaningful connection as the foundation of my therapeutic practice. I have extensive experience in counselling, community mental health, post-separation parenting, family matters, family safety and child inclusive practices, having worked in community based organisations since 1989 and been in private practice since 2015.
In private practice I specialise in Sandplay and Symbol Work, offering an effective combination of an empathic and analytical approach, which enables me to hold and support clients throughout their reflective processes whilst carefully challenging attitudes and behaviours, increasing self-awareness and enabling breakthroughs for healing and growth.
I weave into my therapeutic work with clients the concepts of the individual self, the inner child, the self in relationship, responsibility to self and relationship, accountability, safety, and refocus on strengths, trust and authenticity as a state of being. I walk with my clients to help them navigate the precarious terrain of their challenges, internal fears, insecurities, emotional blockages, and self-limiting beliefs toward their self-assurance and wellbeing.
My qualifications include Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution; Diploma of Counselling (and Groupwork); Advanced Sandplay (Individual, Relationship, Children’s; Shadow Exploration); Child Consultant Training; Clinical Supervision Certificate.
Sandplay and Symbol Work is different from talk therapy; it calls on the body and mind’s history to discover forgotten truths and faciliatate expression of one’s internal world through the creation of a three dimensional picture or story using miniature figures in a sandtray.
Sandplay and Symbolork is effective in reaching unconscious barriers and stored emotions as well as gently exploring the effects of trauma for emotional healing and personal development.
